A metro Atlanta company said Monday that it will open a call center facility in Morrow with plans to create more than 1,120 jobs.

Chime Solutions, an outsourced human resources company and staffing firm that also operates call centers, plans to open a new center in Morrow in a former J.C. Penney store at Southlake Mall.

“This is extremely important to Clayton County, and it’s just the beginning of the economic transformation,” said Grant Wainscott, the head of economic development for Clayton.

Chime will create executive, administrative and customer care jobs, according to a state news release, and hiring has started. About 100 of those jobs will be part-time gigs, and all the jobs will command an hourly wage of at least $10, the company said.

Chime was founded in 2011 by Shelly Wilson, a co-founder of Kennesaw-based Ryla Teleservices. Ryla was acquired by a California firm in 2010.

“Just in the past few years, call center companies in Georgia have created more than 4,800 jobs in our state,” said Chris Carr, the state’s economic development commissioner, in a statement. “I have no doubt that our well-equipped talent pool and robust fiber-optic landscape will help Chime Solutions find the support it needs to better serve its clients.”
